Background
Emily has a strong background and extensive training working with a variety of clinical problems including depression, anxiety, ADHD, learning disabilities, and child behavioral problems in individual, group, and family therapy settings. Emily has a deep passion for mental health and extensive experience in the field. She advanced training in and provides therapy and assessment services for children, families, and adult clients. Through an empathetic and non-judgmental space for clients Emily allows her clients to explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences in a safe environment.
Using evidence-based techniques , including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with creating individualized treatment plans, Emily works closely clients to develop effective coping strategies, enhance self-awareness, and promote positive change. With a warm and supportive demeanor, Emily fosters a therapeutic alliance that encourages her clients to openly express themselves and work towards their goals.
In addition to therapy, Emily is experienced in conducting full comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. These assessments assist in understanding client’s strengths, challenges, and potential treatment options.
Emily also provides Assistive Technology appointments. People who learn or think differently can use technology to help work around their challenges. This is called assistive technology (AT). AT helps people with disabilities learn, communicate, or function better. AT works with devices such as a tablet or computer, but also provides services and support to use the tools.
Emily is directly supervised by Dr. Pamela McCaskill.

Meet Emily Kavanagh
Emily Kavanagh, the clinical director with the Plymouth location, specializes in therapy for children, teens, and adults. She treats a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral problems in children.
Kavanagh enjoys being creative in sessions and helping clients find new ways to cope with the problems they are facing. She often uses humor and analogies in sessions to help make sense of the world in a way that can be worked with.
Her main goal is to collaborate with clients on reaching their goals and potential, and she uses “a lot of hope and forward thinking” in her sessions. She believes that everyone deserves to reach their potential.
