Background
Caitlin Mahoney received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Dayton and her M.S. in general clinical psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She has experience in college counseling, residential treatment, college academic assistance, and applied behavior analysis. Caitlin completed her Master’s practicum at EMU’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Additionally, during her time at EMU, she served as a graduate assistant success coach, where she aided students in navigating the university and developing study strategies that suited their learning style, often with academically underserved and neurodivergent students.
Caitlin’s clinical interests include anxiety, depression, neurodivergence (ADHD), interpersonal conflicts, and equine-assisted therapy. Her integrative orientation includes third-wave modern behavioral therapies, specifically acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Caitlin approaches each client from a humanistic and systems perspective and is committed to providing advocacy and agency to her clients.
Caitlin enjoys artistic and equestrian pursuits and has been involved in both communities most of her life. She hopes to share the empowerment and confidence that creative expression and horsemanship can impart with her clients.
Caitlin is directly supervised by Dr. Amanda Klingensmith.
Meet Caitlin Mahoney
Caitlin Mahoney is a master ‘s-level clinical psychologist at McCaskill Family Services. She specializes in working with anxiety, depression, and neurodiversity. She works with children, teens, and adults.
Mahoney strives to help clients become their best selves by meeting them where they are. Her approach to helping clients achieve their goals involves combining the belief that her clients are “the experts on themselves” with her “own clinical expertise and evidence-based practices”.
Additionally, Mahoney is also client assistant therapist at McCaskill Family Services. One of her greatest joys is watching her clients work toward their goals with the horses at the barn and witnessing the healing powers.
